Peewee's Story

Published: Wednesday 7 September, 2011 Category: Pet Success Stories

Peewee was brought to the surgery having being found by his owner in a collapsed state and very distressed. He was promptly admitted and initially treated for shock with aggressive fluid therapy.

Blood tests revealed a severe electrolyte imbalance.

An abdominal ultrasound was performed immediately showing a perforation of the small intestine.

Peewee's electrolyte imbalance had to be stabilised as failure to do so would have been potentially fatal for him. He then underwent emergency surgery to remove the damaged section of bowel.

As a further complication Peewee was found to have severe peritonitis, a sequela from his perforated bowel. This was treated during his post-operative stay in hospital.

Peewee made a full recovery and and has returned to his naughty, mischievous ways. He takes great pleasure in letting Adele know how much better he is with an occasional well timed swipe...
