I graduated in 1972 from the Royal Dick Veterinary College in Edinburgh and worked for 5 years in a mixed cattle/horse and sheep practice in Brampton in Cumbria.
I came to Jersey in 1977 when I joined Iain Macleod. The surgery at Oak Farm was almost completed when I arrived here.
The nature of the Practice has changed enormously since then. Most of the day used to be spent driving around looking at sick cows. Now I spend half of every day doing small animal consultations and surgical procedures, the remainder attending to horses and occasional cows. I am Honorary Vet for the Royal Jersey Horticultural and Agricultural Society and for the GSD Obedience Club.
My wife Lorraine and I have 3 dogs and Oscar - our 19 year old cat who runs our house and keeps the dogs in order - and several horses which unfortunately I sometimes struggle to find the time to ride!!
My particular interests are in dermatology, birds and exotic animals but I enjoy all aspects of my work and could never imagine not seeing a wide selection of different species every week.
My hobbies are horse riding, bird watching, fishing and photography.
